Travel data provider OAG unveils 'How Green is Your Airline?' report

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 -- OAG, the world’s leading provider of travel data and insight has released a new report that explores how the aviation industry is responding to the growing momentum of sustainable and environmentally-friendly air travel.

The report, ‘How Green is Your Airline?’ provides an in-depth look at where current environmental measures are falling short; the complexities of reducing carbon impact in travel; market demand for sustainability and environmental data transparency; and airlines, climate neutrality claims and greenwashing.

According to a statement, OAG found that industry targets do not account for continued surges in air travel, creating a discrepancy between actual emissions and climate targets.

While airlines are pushing aggressive climate neutrality goals, many of the tactics they are deploying – such as giving travellers a chance to pay to offset carbon emissions – are not working.

“Sustainable air travel is a very complex issue with no easy answers. Consumers aren’t going to stop flying, despite their interest in sustainability,” said OAG senior analyst, John Grant.

“Larger technological advancement is needed to create new, industry-wide standards that clearly show which airlines and flights are greener than others, allowing consumers to research, evaluate and choose the most sustainable option.”

BOISE, Idaho, Feb 20 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cradlepoint, the global leader in cloud-delivered LTE and 5G wireless edge solutions, today announced the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio of 5G solutions powered by the company’s NetCloud Service and built exclusively to meet the business imperatives of availability, interoperability, security, and manageability. The new portfolio of “5G for Business” solutions enables customers to deploy fast and reliable wireless business internet and wide-area networks (WANs).

Telstra Selects Cradlepoint for Enterprise Wireless service

Telstra is the launch partner for the first Cradlepoint 5G solution to be delivered to the market — the W2000-Series 5G Wideband Adapter, which is the 5G wireless edge solution for Telstra’s Enterprise Wireless service. Customer trials are scheduled to begin in April 2020.

“Our pursuit of delivering the best 5G solution available to Australian businesses has led us to Cradlepoint’s NetCloud and the new W2000 Series 5G Wireless Adapters,” commented Telstra’s Mobility Executive Andrew Stormont.

“We know the networking needs of our business and enterprise customers are very different from consumers’, and this point was a determining factor in our decision to partner with Cradlepoint for our Enterprise Wireless 5G solution. Their comprehensive approach, combined with Telstra network leadership and expertise, makes it easy for business customers to get up and running on 5G while providing full powerful management tools.”

First With the Most Comprehensive 5G Network Solution for Business

By combining its NetCloud platform with a clean-sheet-of-paper design for its new 5G modems and antenna systems, Cradlepoint is the first in the industry to address the critical business imperatives of network availability, security, and manageability and provide business customers with a graceful pathway to 5G. Specific capabilities include: combining LTE, Gigabit-Class LTE and 5G in a single wireless WAN; support for all variants of 5G – low-band and mid-band (Sub-6Ghz) and high-band (millimeter wave) – across major wireless operators; interoperability with existing customer SD-WAN and router infrastructures; and delivering the entire network management lifecycle – from ease of deployment to simplified operations and troubleshooting.

“Our new NetCloud-powered portfolio of 5G wireless edge solutions represents another industry first for Cradlepoint,” explained George Mulhern, chairman and CEO of Cradlepoint. “We are excited to have Telstra – Australia’s leading mobile operator – as our worldwide launch partner for our new W2000-Series 5G Wideband Adapter. They share our strong belief that business customers are looking to embrace 5G to enable new and disruptive business applications and capabilities, but not at the cost of impaired network availability, security, and manageability.”

The elements of Cradlepoint’s 5G for business solutions include:

5G Wideband Adapters and Modems

The forthcoming W-Series 5G Wideband Adapters are controlled and managed by the Cradlepoint NetCloud Service and are based on the company’s software-defined modem technology. The W-Series is designed to support the wide range of 5G deployments by wireless operators around the world based on low-band, mid-band, and millimeter-wave spectrum, and can be remotely connected to a customer premise router using 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps Ethernet or a fiber connection. Integrated Wi-Fi 6 support enables local configuration and future use cases. A new 5G version of Cradlepoint’s field-upgradable modular router modems is also planned. The specific models include:
  • W2000-Series 5G Wideband Adapter for low-band and mid-band (Sub-6Ghz) deployments comes in both an indoor unit (IDU) and a rugged outdoor unit (ODU). Telstra customer trials of this model are scheduled to begin from April 2020 and on other wireless operators starting in mid-2020.

  • W4000-Series 5G Wideband Adapter is designed for millimeter-wave cellular networks with a rugged outdoor unit (ODU) design that can be directionally mounted on exterior walls, poles, and rooftops. The W4000-Series is slated for Q3 2020 availability.

  • 5G Modular Modem (Sub-6Ghz) provides a field-upgradable pathway to 5G for Cradlepoint 5G Ready dual modem routers. Availability is planned for later in 2020.

Built for Business, Powered by NetCloud

The NetCloud Service powers every Cradlepoint wireless edge solution, including the new 5G offerings. It enables customers to build and manage wireless WANs with complete lifecycle management, true zero-touch deployment, robust security, and SD-WAN traffic management for optimal application performance and reliability. Here are several of the new NetCloud features that support the new Cradlepoint 5G edge solutions:
  • Captive Mode: When paired with a Cradlepoint 5G Ready router, the remote W-Series modems appear and function within NetCloud Manager like an integrated modem, simplifying deployment and management while reducing licensing costs for the pair. This feature is available today.

  • Cradlepoint Verify™ Mobile Application: A companion mobile application to help installers find the ideal location and orientation to mount the W-Series IDU or ODU units for maximum 5G signal reception. The mobile app is designed to help an employee or third-party installer quickly and accurately install 5G Wideband Adapters while automatically sending all of the vital installation data to NetCloud Manager, ensuring optimal 5G signal performance and eliminating subsequent truck rolls. Both Android and iPhone are supported with a beta release planned for Q2 2020.

TRAX MOVES CLOSER TO ITS VISION OF DIGITIZING PHYSICAL RETAIL WITH QOPIUS ACQUISITION

SINGAPORE, Feb 18 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) — Trax, a leading provider of computer vision and analytics solutions for retail, today announced its acquisition of Qopius, a top provider of AI-based in-store technology solutions in Europe. The acquisition will serve as a force multiplier in pushing real-time store monitoring and autonomous inventory management into mainstream adoption, helping retailers across the world embrace data and digital innovation to cut costs and boost sales at every shelf.
Retailers and consumer goods manufacturers around the world leverage Trax’s in-store execution and retail analytics solutions to better manage on-shelf availability and optimize merchandising. These solutions are powered by proprietary fine-grained image recognition algorithms which convert photos of retail shelves into granular, actionable shelf and store-level insights.
Qopius’ hardware-agnostic computer vision platform helps retailers monitor in real-time on-shelf inventory for out of stocks, compliance, inventory levels and price integrity at scale. Their platform leverages advanced retail data integration and analytics to empower store managers and staff to take the right action at the right time for streamlined store operations and higher sales. Qopius’ customers include leading retailers such as Carrefour, Metro and MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group.
Computer Vision Saves Retailers from Costly In-Store Execution Issues
Trax’s acquisition of Qopius comes at a time when exceptional customer experience has become the rallying call of every retail executive. A 2019 research study by Trax and Coresight found that 8 in 10 of these executives believe consistent in-store execution – which entails the improvement of issues such as out of shelf or misplaced items, planogram non-compliance and pricing errors – remains the biggest impediment to customer satisfaction. Only 32% of respondents had the right data to monitor how long an item was missing from shelves, while 52% of respondents said they were planning to adopt image recognition technology within the next two years.
Trax CEO and co-founder Joel Bar-El said, “The key to retail success in the new decade is using technology to support employees. This means capturing critical shelf data in real-time to enable employees to fix merchandising and availability issues faster than ever before. Qopius’ proven expertise in digitizing supermarket shelves across Europe and phenomenal talent make it a strategic fit for Trax. We are truly excited to welcome Qopius to the Trax family.”

AUTH0 POWERS CENTRALIZED LOGIN FOR SIEMENS' HUNDREDS OF APPLICATIONS WORLDWIDE

All employees, customers, and partners utilize 'Siemens ID' for seamless access to global apps and services

BELLEVUE, Wash., Feb 5 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Auth0, the identity platform for application builders, today announced that it has partnered with global technology powerhouse Siemens AG to develop and build ‘Siemens ID’, one centralized login for all Siemens internal and external applications. Siemens, headquartered in Munich, and the largest industry manufacturing company in Europe, operates across 200 global offices with approximately €86.8 billion in annual revenue.

As one of the world’s largest producers of energy-efficient, resource-saving technologies, Siemens turned to Auth0 to help build Siemens ID for centralizing access to its global applications and services for hundreds of customers, partners, and as of September 2019, 385,000 employees across the world. Siemens ID relies on Auth0’s highly-scalable platform to provide a centralized way to store the user database and login page, while enabling each individual division to customize the identity providers they want, manage the roles, and define the workflow they need in order to optimize the user experience (a concept called multi-tenancy).

“[Before Auth0] we applied strict internal identity management policies to external identity management which caused lots of overhead and complexity. When Siemens ID-as-a-service and Auth0 as a service provider stepped in, we could improve the processes around identity management, reducing efforts while increasing the acceptance of the internal stakeholders,” said Hugo Francisco, Service Owner, IAM Solutions at Siemens. “This also enabled our clients and partners to focus on doing business instead of managing accounts and several login credentials for several applications.”

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) was one of the mandatory requirements for Siemens ID to provide an extra layer of security when delivering applications to external clients or partners. With Auth0, Siemens can offer three distinct types of second-factor authentication, which was a key differentiator when selling the implementation to internal stakeholders. Since partnering with Auth0, Siemens has expanded its Auth0 features to include Universal Login and Anomaly Detection, enabling them to quickly integrate various identity management features into its applications to fulfill the Siemens ID promise of robust security.

“Global companies like Siemens need to be able to standardize and centralize on one identity platform, while maintaining flexibility and security at the department level,” said Steven Rees-Pullman, Vice President, International at Auth0. “As Siemens continues to grow and expand, the service they’ve created with Auth0 can scale with them.”

Siemens is one of many Auth0 customers in the DACH region, including HolidayCheck and EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. More details on Siemens’ implementation of Auth0 can be found on the company’s website.

Taconic Biosciences unveils immuno-oncology mouse model

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 -- Taconic Biosciences, a global leader in providing drug discovery animal model solutions has launched a new B2m-NOG mouse model, expanding its premier immuno-oncology portfolio.

The portfolio is built on the CIEA NOG mouse®, a severely immunodeficient mouse with diverse applications based on its improved ability to engraft human cells and tissues.

According to a statement, B2m-NOG significantly extends the study window after human peripheral blood mononuclear (PBMC) cell engraftment, providing more time to assess reactions to target drugs.

The extended study window dramatically expands immuno-oncology study types that can be run using the B2m-NOG model compared with more expensive and time-consuming options, such as hematopoietic stem cell-engrafted models.

Taconic also offers B2m-NOG mice pre-engrafted with human PBMCs.

Immuno-oncology leverages the body’s immune system to fight cancer, increasing the ability to target the disease.

Animal models used in this therapeutic development include special mice, which model human immune system function.
