KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- The 2022 Erhai Forum on Global Ecological Civilisation Construction, named after the famous local Erhai lake, was held in Dali, Yunnan province on Aug 28, 2022.

Themed “Working Together to Build a Shared Future for All Life on Earth”, the forum aimed to promote international understanding of China and its ecological values, showcase the nation's achievements in biodiversity conservation, and promote the construction of a “global ecological civilisation.”

According to a statement, the event was attended by hundreds of guests from around China and the rest of the world who came together to discuss important topics related to the environment and conservation.

This year's forum also saw the official launch of the Green Life City Alliance initiative, which aims to enhance the ecology of urban areas, promote green urban transformation and development, popularise the notion of “green life cities”, and make city construction and governance greener and more sustainable.

Dali has long been recognised for its beautiful landscape and historical and cultural heritage.

In recent years, the prefecture has also become a model and showcase for China's achievements in ecological and environmental protection, in particular the protection of Erhai Lake and the preservation of rich local minority cultures.

By emphasising ecosystem integrity in all aspects of local development, Dali Prefecture strives to embody the philosophy that clear waters and green mountains are invaluable assets.

The local area has implemented an integrated programme to restore and protect mountains, bodies of water, forests, fields, lakes, and grasslands.

Continuous steps have also been taken to reduce carbon emissions, reduce air and water pollution, improve the management of natural resources, and raise the environmental quality of Erhai Lake and surrounding areas.
