NILAI, Negeri Sembilan, July 16 (Bernama) -- A group of passionate 17-year-old students from Kolej PERMATA Insan defied stereotypes by organizing Malaysia's first-ever high school student-led hackathon, HackINSAN. Held on July 6th and 7th, 2024, the event attracted over 200 students, aged 15-24 from across the country. HackINSAN wasn't just a competition; it was a catalyst for the future of Malaysian innovation and a testament to the boundless potential of young minds.
Inspired by his participation in hackathons abroad, Yahaya bin Basiron, the Director of HackINSAN, identified a critical gap - the lack of platforms for Malaysian high schoolers to showcase their tech talent and problem-solving skills. Refusing to accept this reality, Yahaya, along with his trusted peers, embarked on a mission to change the game.Industry leaders, including Inbarah Suppiah, CEO of Pixaworks and mastermind behind JomHacks, and young prodigy Muhammad Akmal, Malaysia's youngest senior software developer, joined the cause, sharing their experiences and insights to inspire the students to dream big.
News of HackINSAN's mission caught the attention of IP ServerOne, a leading managed cloud service provider. Recognizing the passion and potential of the young organizers, CL Lee, founder of IP ServerOne, stated, "We believe the future belongs to those who dare to dream and innovate. HackINSAN exemplifies this spirit. We're honored to be one of the sponsors and support these young minds with the tools they need to turn their ideas into reality. After all, their dreams will shape our tomorrow. With NovaCloud, we provided them with a secure and scalable cloud platform to build their projects."
NovaCloud proved to be a game-changer, enabling participants to quickly launch and adjust virtual servers, crucial for the fast-paced hackathon environment. IP ServerOne's support extended beyond technology, offering workshops to equip students with the skills to leverage NovaCloud in tackling real-world challenges. These challenges, presented as thought-provoking problem statements, pushed boundaries, and encouraged innovative solutions. From creating tech-driven insurance products for Gen Z to developing tools to bridge the education gap in underprivileged communities, the ideas were as diverse as the participants themselves.
HackINSAN urges the Malaysian youth to be active participants in shaping the future. As Yahaya emphasizes, "We shouldn't leave research and development to other countries. We can and should do more here in Malaysia, providing training for our youth to gain technical skills from a very young age."
HackINSAN is a movement that proves that age is just a number when it comes to innovation. Their story is a glimpse into the future, where the next generation of tech leaders is already taking charge, powered by solutions like IP ServerOne's NovaCloud.
